Medical Students and Doctors Again to Provide FREE Health Screenings to Insured and Uninsured at
FREE Cholesterol, Blood Sugar and Blood Sugar Screenings and Others
After successful medical outreaches at Crossroads in 2010 and 2011, medical students and doctors from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) located in Blacksburg, will return to the Crossroads Institute, to provide free health screenings on Friday, November 15, 2013, from 10:00am-3:00pm. This is open to both the insured and uninsured. There will be free cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure screenings, as well as free osteoporosis screenings. The free cholesterol screenings will be limited to the first 100 people. Complimentary snacks will be provided.
Included this year will be informational sessions about the Affordable Care Act; certified application counselors will be available all day to assist you with applications or to answer questions. This is a great resource for anyone unsure of what the country’s new healthcare act means for them. This free service will be provided by Healthcare Insurance Marketplace.
Located in Blacksburg, Virginia, VCOM’s mission is to educate students who are community-minded and focused on helping those in need. Appalachian outreach programs such as this clinic are ways that students learn medicine but also learn about giving back to their community. Everyone in the area is encouraged to take advantage of this great service, which is free of charge.
