I Corinthians 13:11
“When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put those childish ways behind me.”
I too must die someday and I want to leave a legacy to the families in my community. I believe that in order to change our environment and community, we must first renew our minds. I have spent the past five years of my life redeveloping myself on the spiritual and physical level. As I continue on my path to become a better man, I understand that I must develop both myself on both levels so the two can work together to complete the human body. To become a better man, I have strengthened my spiritual walk and had to learn male responsibility and basic life skills. I am a member of St. Peters World Outreach Center where we are taught to win souls and mike disciples using a structured format. I am also a master trainer for the National Partnership for Community Leadership (NPCL) to teach “Fatherhood Development.” This curriculum is evidenced based and I am proof that the program works. I have linked my structured teaching at St. Peters World Outreach Center with my experience as a NPCL trainer to create Chainbreakers.
Chainbreakers was founded to teach male responsibility to young men as well as life skills development classes to both young men and young women. Life development is an ongoing process and not just something we learn in childhood. After we become adults, who is supposed to teach us about life? Chainbreakers was developed to bring together a group of people who are invested in becoming better men, better women, and better community partners. Classes are unique as they are taught on the NPCL evidenced based curriculum, but also provide a peer support group for participants.
Male responsibility classes focus on topics such as:
- How to become more self-sufficient
- Effective communication
- Becoming a responsible father
- Creating a life plan
- Health and Sexuality
Life Skills classes focus on topics such as:
- Anger Management
- Strengthening values
- Effective Communication
- Male and Female Relationships
- Health and Sexuality.
Classes are held on an ongoing basis in Galax, Virginia and can be held in other areas upon request.
